How can hackers help solve problems in Maine?

Maine Civic Hack Day is coming up in three weekends, and we want to know — how can hackers help solve problems in Maine?

The Bangor Daily News is partnering with Hacktivate and Code for Maine to help get input from the community — that’s you — about what technologies could make our lives better.

Maine Civic Hack Day, to be held on the weekend of May 31 and June 1 this year, is an intense weekend where technical experts, designer, and community members come together to produce workable solutions that improve the lives of real people across the state. From their website:

A Civic Hack Day is an event that focuses on solving real problems in our communities with technology.  A solution could take the form of a new web page or mobile application.  It could be making new municipal data available to the public online.  A solution could even take the form of some new hardware device.  There’s no restriction on the implementation of the solution, as long as it effectively meets a need.”

We encourage all individuals, community organizations, and municipalities to contribute as many ideas as they can.  We ask that you include your contact information so we can as you questions about your idea, if selected.

To submit your idea, fill out the form below. For more information about Maine Civic Hack Day, including how to participate, visit their website or email
