Worse, the new solutions are repeats from the past. Twenty years ago, Gov. John McKernan touted the Maine Economic Growth Council as the method to chart Maine’s future. Today, Gov. Paul LePage is readying The Governor’s Economic Development Action Committee to do the exact same thing.

So what does Maine need to do for its economic future? Fast growing states in the Southeast have part of the answer. So do observers familiar with Maine’s approaches and failings in the past.
